Economic Impact

Driving Measurable Economic Impact Across Indiana Manufacturing

The numbers show progress. The impact shapes Indiana's future.

For more than two decades, Purdue MEP has partnered with Indiana manufacturers to improve performance, increase competitiveness, and accelerate growth. The result is measurable economic impact that strengthens individual businesses and contributes to the success of Indiana's manufacturing economy.

As part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST MEP) network, Purdue MEP helps manufacturers identify opportunities, solve operational challenges, and implement strategies that lead to meaningful business results. Clients report outcomes such as increased sales, cost savings, jobs created or retained, and investments in equipment, technology, and future growth. These impacts are independently collected through a third-party survey process, providing a reliable measure of the value created through our client engagements.

The numbers tell an important story, but they represent something even greater: stronger companies, more resilient supply chains, expanded workforce opportunities, and thriving communities throughout Indiana. Since 2005, Purdue MEP has helped generate billions of dollars in economic impact for manufacturers across the state.

Measuring Impact

How We Measure Impact

To ensure accountability and demonstrate value, Purdue MEP clients are surveyed by an independent third-party research firm following qualifying project engagements. Manufacturers report the business outcomes achieved through Purdue MEP assistance, including:

  • Jobs created and retained

  • Increased and retained sales

  • Cost savings and cost avoidance

  • Capital and technology investments

These reported outcomes help quantify the impact of Purdue MEP's work and support the continued growth and competitiveness of Indiana manufacturers.
